A Message from the Head of School and Board Chair

Dear Head-Royce Community,

Thank you for your tremendous support last year. As we look back over the year, we do so with pride, reflecting on all the ways that our community came together to support Head-Royce. With much thanks to the indomitable Crystal Land in her final year as Head of School, the 2021-2022 school year was the most successful fundraising year in School history. Her legacy of care, commitment and vision has buoyed Head-Royce through challenging times and left the School in an extremely strong position.

In the last school year, 1,649 generous donations were made to Head-Royce. Whether you participated as a supporter of the Annual Fund, helped us “go public” with our record-breaking Framing our Future campaign for the new South Campus, invested in our endowment or joined our legacy giving society, each one of you played a critical role in the success of the School. Head-Royce would not be the stable, thriving institution we are today without your deep generosity! So as we enter this season of gratitude, I hope you know how important you are to us and how much of a difference you have made and continue to make on our students, faculty and staff through your gifts of time, talent and treasure.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a community of parents who enthusiastically support the Annual Fund. With the help of our Annual Fund volunteer team, over 79% of current parents generously participated in the 2021-22 Annual Fund, donating $1,092,779, 74% of all dollars raised! We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our students and teachers - thank you.

Alumni Giving

We are incredibly grateful to our Alumni community for their generosity and loyal support of Head-Royce. In the 2021-22 year, Alumni support totaled $2,210,525 and included gifts to the Framing Our Future Campaign, Annual Fund, endowment and scholarships.

Grandparents, past parents and friends are an important and vibrant part of our community. Family is at the core of our community, and we are grateful to the 214 of you who demonstrated your commitment to our students by making an Annual Fund contribution. Endowment and Special Gifts

Donations to grow our endowment are especially meaningful because they ensure our strong financial footing, in perpetuity. Additionally, each year we receive restricted gifts for programs and special initiatives of Head-Royce, which allow for incredible innovation for the School.

Heads Up Giving

Last year, our community came together in support of the Heads Up Program and raised $93,144 dollars for our Oakland students. The school year culminated with our annual Awards Banquet in April.
